The endorsement from the RSA marks the first, major public safety
organization endorsement in the race for Senate District 28

RIVERSIDE, Calif.: California State Assemblywoman, and State Senate District 28 candidate, Melissa Melendez announced today she received the endorsement of the Riverside Sheriffs’ Association (RSA).

“Your proven commitment to public safety and law enforcement concerns, along with your devotion to community service has made the decision an easy one,” said RSA President William Young.

As a member of the State Assembly Public Safety committee and throughout her tenure in the legislature, Melendez has been a friend to, and supporter of law enforcement, at a time when the Democrat-controlled legislature works to make the job of those who protect us more and more difficult.

“It’s never been more critical for our law enforcement officers to have a friend in the state legislature and I’m honored to receive the highly-coveted RSA endorsement,” Melendezsaid. “There is no one in Sacramento who has worked harder for law enforcement and I will continue to be their voice in the State Senate.”

The RSA represents over 4,000 of Riverside County’s law enforcement professionals serving in the Sheriff’s Department, Probation Department and the District Attorney’s Investigative Bureau.

Melendez is running for the vacant 28th State Senate District, which covers most of her current 67th Assembly district, and spans across the desert to the Coachella Valley to the Arizona border.
